Drug Class and Mechanism
CO Diovan HCT is made from a combination of two drugs known as Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide which is a Thiazide Diuretic. Its chemical name is Valsartan/HCTZ. Valsartan helps to relax and widen the blood vessels by stopping the production of a natural hormone called Angiotensin.
Hydrochlorothiazide helps to decrease the amount of excess water and salt in the body by increasing the amount of urine your body makes. This medicine treats blood pressure and eventually also helps to decrease the possibility of heart problems and kidney problems.

If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If you are taking 1 dose daily and do not remember until the next day, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
